1946

In the heart of Gippsland, nestled amongst pristine pastures and fresh air, R. Radford & Son began its journey as a small butcher shop in Warragul. Fueled by passion and a dedication to quality, the Radford family quickly established a reputation for quality and good service.

1973

The next generation ushered in a new era of growth. Robert Radford Jr. joined the family business, bringing a fresh perspective and ambitious vision. Soon, the Radfords expanded their reach, establishing a delivery fleet that bridged the gap between Gippsland's bounty and the growing demands of Melbourne and beyond.

1993

After over 50 years of tireless dedication, Robert Radford Sr. passed the torch to his son. Under Robert Jr.'s leadership, R. Radford & Son embarked on a transformative journey. The abattoir underwent a series of upgrades, paving the way for consistent quality and expansion into the domestic market.

2014

Through major investment, the site has undergone several significant improvements in plant, machinery and environmental sustainability.

In the preceding years, multiple local, regional, state-wide and national award accolades including Baw Baw Shire’s Business of the Year, induction into the Gippsland Business Awards Hall of Fame, My Business National title of Best Regional Business. and National Australia Bank Agribusiness award for Environment and Energy Management.

Driven by the pursuit of excellence, R. Radford & Son embraced the global stage. Securing Tier 1 export status under EST 2877, the company began delivering its premium lamb and beef to 28 select markets around the world.

From its humble origins as a local butcher shop, R. Radford & Son has evolved into a leading multi-species meat processor, employing over 100 dedicated individuals, the majority of whom hail from the local Gippsland community. We remain committed to our founding principles: unwavering quality, ethical sourcing, and a deep respect for the land and animals. The R.
